Anti-Taliban Fronts Report Four Taliban Fighters Killed in Herat and Faryab

DID Press: Afghanistan’s Freedom Front and National Resistance Front reported separate attacks against Taliban forces in the western and northern provinces of Herat and Faryab on Saturday, saying four Taliban members were killed and weapons and communications equipment were seized.

The attacks are part of a recent increase in operations by anti-Taliban groups across several Afghan provinces.The National Resistance Front said in a statement that its fighters targeted and killed two Taliban members on Friday evening in the Ganj-e Chehel Dokhtar area of Rabat-e Sangi district in Herat province.

The group said two weapons and a Taliban radio communication device were also seized during the operation.Separately, the Afghanistan Freedom Front said it killed two Taliban intelligence members on Friday evening in Largijan village in Gurziwan district of Faryab province.

The group said the two were close associates of Mullah Abdul Karim, the Taliban commander in the district.The attacks come amid increased activity by anti-Taliban fronts in recent weeks. According to statements by the Freedom Front, National Resistance Front and United Afghanistan Front, at least 15 attacks were carried out in nine provinces over the past week, in which around 30 Taliban members were reportedly killed.

The Taliban have not officially commented on the reported attacks or casualties and continue to claim that security has been fully established across Afghanistan.The reported expansion of anti-Taliban operations highlights growing military pressure on the group.

Analysts say the Taliban’s declining social support and increased public backing for opposition fronts have contributed to the escalation of attacks.

The developments come ahead of the fifth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power and underscore the challenges the group faces in consolidating its rule.
