Alokozay: Torkham Border Remains Closed, Reports of Reopening Incorrect
DID Press: Khan Jan Alokozay, head of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, said on Saturday that the Torkham border crossing remains closed, dismissing reports that the key border point has reopened.

Alokozay said the crossing remains closed to both passenger movement and trade. He added that representatives of the private sector and some Pakistani politicians have been working to reopen the border, but their efforts have so far failed to produce results.
He said Afghanistan’s private sector also wants trade routes with Pakistan to remain open, but continues to support the Taliban government’s position on the issue.
