10,000 Homes in England Face Four-Day Water Outage Amid Heatwave

DID Press: As a heatwave intensifies across Britain, around 10,000 homes in parts of London and Essex have faced water outages or severe drops in water pressure.

While parts of England are experiencing a heatwave and drought, disruption to the water supply network has left around 10,000 homes in areas of London and Essex without water or with severely reduced water pressure.

Reports indicate that the disruption began on Saturday, with some households having gone several days without access to running water.

The local water company has apologized to customers and said repair teams are working to fix damaged water lines. However, the company said repairs to some of the affected pipes have proved more difficult than initially estimated.

To help mitigate some of the impact, the company has offered each household 24 two-liter bottles of mineral water. Many residents have described the measure as insufficient, particularly because during extreme heat, water is needed not only for drinking but also for cooking, washing and using sanitary facilities.

The water outages come as large parts of England face drought conditions and declining water reserves, while another heatwave is placing additional pressure on the country.
