Afghan Man Gets 51-Day Sentence for Illegal Entry Into US

DID Press: US Department of Justice announced that Khan Afzal Ahmadzai, 30, from Kabul, was sentenced to 51 days in prison after pleading guilty to illegally entering the United States.

Ahmadzai entered the United States from Canada on June 3, 2026, crossing the border on foot near Champlain, New York, without undergoing immigration inspection. He was subsequently arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Ahmadzai had previously attempted to enter the United States in May through a port of entry near Niagara Falls but was denied admission and returned to Canada.

According to the report, after completing his prison sentence, Ahmadzai will face removal proceedings from the United States.
