Herat Poised to Become Regional Industrial Hub, Taliban Governor Says
DID Press: Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the Taliban-appointed governor of Herat, said the western Afghan province could soon emerge as a major industrial and economic hub in the region as its industrial city expands, infrastructure develops and investment increases.

Islamjar said Herat is moving toward a major economic and industrial transformation, highlighting the ongoing development of the province’s industrial city.
According to the governor, the industrial city has been designed to accommodate thousands of industrial plots for heavy, medium and light industries. He said improvements in electricity, roads and railway infrastructure could create greater opportunities for manufacturers and investors.
Herat’s location along major economic and transit projects, including the TAPI gas pipeline and the Herat–Khaf railway, could further strengthen the province’s potential as a center for production and exports.
