US Military Casualties in Iran War Rise to 757 Wounded, Pentagon Says

DID Press: The number of U.S. service members wounded since the start of the war with Iran has risen to 757, according to newly updated U.S. Department of Defense casualty data.

The Pentagon updated its casualty figures on Wednesday, recording more than 50 additional cases of U.S. troops wounded. According to the latest figures, 18 U.S. service members have been killed and 757 wounded since Washington began its war against Iran on February 28.

Last month, the Defense Department added an “Overseas Operations” section to its official casualty database, covering military casualties dating back to July 7. The Pentagon has not specified which conflict the casualties listed under that category are linked to.

CNN reported that July 7 coincides with the period when the U.S. administration notified Congress, under the War Powers Resolution, about the beginning of a new military engagement with Iran.

The latest increase in reported casualties comes after the Pentagon faced criticism from media organizations and lawmakers over discrepancies in its official casualty records. Four deaths and dozens of injuries had reportedly been removed from the database for a period before being restored.

CNN also reported that the Pentagon had delayed reporting some injuries during the Iran war, with U.S. officials citing security concerns for the delays.
