Pakistan, Google Sign MoU to Advance National Digital Transformation

DID Press: Pakistan’s government and Google have signed a memorandum of understanding to support the country’s national digital transformation program, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attending the signing ceremony.

The agreement was signed by Zarrar Hasham Khan, Pakistan’s Deputy Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, and David Wheeler, Google’s head of public policy for South and Southeast Asia.

Under the agreement, Google will provide 150,000 Google Career Certificates to young Pakistanis in 2026, giving participants access to technical skills aligned with high-demand jobs and labor-market needs.

A special working group will also be established to develop a roadmap for strengthening Pakistan’s competitiveness and expanding its information technology exports.

The partnership is part of Islamabad’s broader efforts to accelerate digital transformation, develop the country’s technology sector and create new employment opportunities for young people.
