Ghazni Students Fund and Equip Computer Lab at Their School

DID Press: Students at Shams-ul-Arifeen High School in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province have established a fully equipped computer lab through their own contributions, providing 22 computers, desks, chairs and a projector at a cost of 500,000 afghanis.

Mia Gul Sediq, a Taliban official responsible for publications at the Ghazni Education Directorate, said the students at Shams-ul-Arifeen High School had funded and established the computer lab through their own efforts and financial contributions.

The facility includes 22 computers, desks, chairs and a projector and was established to improve the quality of education and provide students with better access to technology.

According to Sediq, the entire cost of the project—500,000 afghanis—was covered by the students themselves. He described the initiative as an example of student participation and commitment to educational development, adding that similar initiatives could play an important role in improving education in Ghazni province.

The initiative comes as many schools across Afghanistan continue to face shortages of educational resources and modern equipment. The students’ effort in Ghazni represents an example of self-help and collective action aimed at improving access to education and technology.
