Maduro Releases First Photos From US Prison

DID Press: Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has released photographs appearing to show him in U.S. custody, describing the images as a “small gift of love and hope” for his grandchildren, children and supporters.

The photographs, posted on Maduro’s official X account on Sunday, show him wearing a gray tracksuit and smiling in front of a concrete-block wall. The images are dated June 25, 2026, and show Maduro making a victory sign with his fingers.

In the accompanying message, Maduro said he and his family remained steadfast with “hearts full of love,” while thanking supporters for their prayers, solidarity and continued support. He also referred to his wife, Cilia Flores, and reaffirmed his faith in God.

Maduro and Flores have been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since they were captured during a U.S. military operation in Caracas on Jan. 3, 2026. Maduro faces federal charges including narco-terrorism and drug-trafficking conspiracy, to which he has pleaded not guilty. A U.S. judge has scheduled his trial for June 2027.
