DID Press: Several senior officials in Donald Trump’s administration are considering resigning in the coming months, further shrinking the president’s circle of close advisers, Bloomberg reported.
Trump is entering a critical phase of his second term after losing several key members of his administration in recent weeks. According to Bloomberg, the departures have forced the president to rely increasingly on a smaller group of trusted aides and advisers to manage the administration.
Over the past month, the administration has seen the departure or planned exit of its chief spokesperson, a top legal adviser, a key national security official and its liaison to Congress, according to the Bloomberg report. More senior officials are also weighing potential departures in the coming months, people familiar with the matter said.
Bloomberg reported that the departure of Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, came as a surprise to some people within the administration. Leavitt announced that she would leave the position at the end of August to spend more time with her family and is expected to remain involved as one of Trump’s outside advisers.
The personnel changes come as Trump faces an increasingly consequential period in his presidency, with the 2026 midterm elections approaching and the administration seeking to maintain political and legislative momentum.
