1,000 Families Receive Electricity for First Time in Paktia

DID Press: Around 1,000 families in Zurmat district and several villages surrounding the provincial capital of Gardez have gained access to electricity for the first time, Taliban officials said on Monday.

The electricity project was implemented in Zurmat District and nearby villages, providing residents with access to the power distribution network.

According to the Taliban authorities, the project included the installation of nine distribution transformers, 575 concrete utility poles and 65 km of power lines, with capacities of 20 and 40 kilovolts.

The cost of the project was reported at 41 million Afghanis.

Access to reliable electricity remains a major challenge in Afghanistan. A significant share of the country’s electricity is imported, while many residents—particularly in rural areas—continue to lack stable access to power.
