DID Press: Iran’s armed forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have announced a new wave of drone and missile attacks targeting U.S. military facilities in Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, amid a sharp escalation in hostilities between Washington and Tehran.
Iran’s Army said that, during the 30th phase of Operation Saeeqah (Thunderbolt), dozens of Arash loitering munitions targeted radar systems and locations used by U.S. forces at Al Dhafra and Al Minhad air bases in the UAE. The Iranian military also said U.S. facilities at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain were targeted in extensive drone attacks.
Meanwhile, the IRGC claimed that a combined missile and drone attack struck facilities at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, including areas associated with the U.S. command structure and drone operations. The Guard claimed that some U.S. personnel were killed and several drones were destroyed.
Those claims, however, have not been independently confirmed, and available reports indicate that Gulf states were responding to incoming missile and drone threats. Associated Press reported that attacks directed toward Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE were intercepted, although the full extent of damage from the latest escalation remains unclear.
The attacks followed a new wave of U.S. strikes against Iranian military targets, including air-defense systems, radar installations, maritime assets and communications facilities. Iran subsequently launched retaliatory attacks against U.S. interests across several countries in the region.
The U.S. Embassy in the UAE has also warned American citizens to remain alert amid heightened regional security risks, as the renewed military confrontation raises concerns about broader security threats and potential disruption to commercial aviation.
The latest exchange marks one of the most significant escalations in weeks and has intensified fears that the confrontation could spread further across the Gulf region.
