DID Press: The average price of diesel in the United States reached a record $5.85 per gallon on Friday, surpassing the previous high recorded in June 2022, according to AAA data.

Diesel is a major fuel source for freight transportation, agriculture and goods distribution. Rising diesel prices are increasing transportation and business costs, with some of those costs already being passed on to consumers.
The surge comes amid disruptions to global fuel supplies linked to the ongoing war with Iran and bottlenecks in the Strait of Hormuz. Higher crude oil prices and strained refined-fuel supplies have contributed to the increase in U.S. diesel prices.
