Ukraine: Russian Military Losses Surpass 1.5 Million
DID Press: The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has said that Russia’s total military losses since the start of the war in Ukraine have surpassed 1.5 million killed and wounded.

According to the Ukrainian military, Russia’s losses in the war are unprecedented compared with other military conflicts since World War II.
Ukrainian officials also claim that the figure is about 100 times higher than Soviet losses during nearly a decade of war in Afghanistan and around 125 times higher than Russia’s officially acknowledged losses in the two Chechen wars. These comparisons were also cited by Ukraine’s General Staff when it reported total Russian personnel losses of about 1,500,870 as of Sept. 9, 2026.
The figure includes both Russian troops killed and wounded and has not been independently verified in full.
