Pakistan: More Than 4,700 Citizens Killed in Terrorist Attacks Linked to Afghanistan

DID Press: Pakistan told the United Nations Security Council that more than 4,700 of its citizens have been killed in terrorist attacks over the past three years, which Islamabad says were carried out by militant groups based in Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s representative to the Security Council criticized the council’s failure to impose sanctions on the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and called for stronger international action against groups including the regional branch of Islamic State and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM).

Islamabad claims that the continued presence of militant networks in Afghanistan poses a threat to Pakistan’s security and the wider region.The Taliban government, however, has repeatedly said that no threat to neighboring countries originates from Afghan territory.
