Pakistan, Afghanistan Airlines Facilitate Transit Flights via Islamabad

DID Press: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Afghanistan’s Kam Air have signed a cooperation agreement to facilitate transit routes from Kabul to the Middle East via Islamabad International Airport.

Under the agreement, the first phase of cooperation has been launched on the Kabul–Islamabad–Dammam route, allowing passengers to travel on a single ticket. Passengers’ baggage will also be transferred directly to the final destination. Travelers remaining in the transit area will not be required to complete immigration procedures or collect and re-check their baggage in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistani airport authorities have announced that departing passengers are required to present smart vaccination certificates. Under the new regulation, travelers must provide certificates registered with Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for vaccinations against polio, meningitis, yellow fever and influenza.

Airports have also made facilities available for vaccination and online registration. Passengers are required to arrive at least six hours before their flight to complete the procedures.

For Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, only vaccination certificates issued by government-run medical centers will be accepted.
