DID Press: Pakistani police officials say 12 workers were abducted after armed men attacked a construction company’s base in Duki district of Balochistan province, killing one security guard and injuring two others.
Mansoor Ahmed Bozdar, acting police chief of Duki district, said Saturday that armed men attacked the company’s base in the Palari area of Nana Sahib Ziarat and exchanged fire with security guards.
Bozdar said one security guard, Mohtaj-ur-Rehman, who was originally from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was killed in the shooting.
Another security guard and a local resident were also injured and taken to a health facility for treatment, he added.
According to the police official, the attackers entered the compound, gathered the workers inside the camp and checked their identity cards before taking 12 of them away. Initial information indicated that 10 of the abducted workers were from Punjab and two were Pashtuns.
Bozdar said the attackers also set fire to heavy construction machinery at the site before fleeing toward mountainous areas.
Police and Frontier Corps forces subsequently cordoned off the area and launched a joint search operation to locate the abducted workers and identify and arrest those responsible for the attack.
