DID Press: Local sources report that a powerful explosion occurred in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan Province, on Monday morning.
According to the sources, the explosion took place at around 9:45 a.m. local time on Monday, September 28, near the Taliban-run Directorate of Mines in Faizabad.
Sources said the blast was powerful enough for its sound to be heard in areas farther from the site.
No reliable information has yet emerged about the type or cause of the explosion, or any possible casualties or damage. The Taliban authorities have also not yet commented on the incident.
Recent reports have documented security incidents and arrests in and around Faizabad, but these reports do not establish a connection to Monday’s reported explosion.
