Afghanistan, Belarus Agree to Expand Health and Pharmaceutical Cooperation

DID Press: Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health says Afghanistan and Belarus have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in the health sector, including pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, healthcare training and scientific research.

Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, the Taliban-appointed public health minister, held talks with Belarusian health officials during his visit to Belarus, according to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health. The ministry has confirmed Jalali’s visit and said the trip is aimed at strengthening health cooperation and exchanging experience.

The discussions focused on expanding healthcare cooperation, pharmaceutical supplies and production, medical equipment, capacity-building for healthcare workers, and the exchange of scientific and research information.

The two sides also discussed strengthening cooperation between health institutions in Afghanistan and Belarus. If implemented, the cooperation could facilitate the exchange of technical expertise and experience and provide greater access to some medical equipment, pharmaceutical products and specialized healthcare services.

The Afghan ministry said Jalali is also scheduled to visit Belarusian medical and pharmaceutical institutions, including the Belarusian State Medical University, a state pharmaceutical company and specialized medical centers.
