Pakistan Calls for Joint UN, OIC and SCO Action on Afghanistan Crisis
DID Press: Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan, has called for a collective international response and joint action to address Afghanistan’s security challenges.

Speaking at a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said the absence of an inclusive governing framework and the continued presence of armed groups in Afghanistan were among the country’s main challenges, adding that coordination among the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was necessary to address them.
Sadiq said, “Afghanistan cannot be treated as merely a bilateral issue; under the mandate of the United Nations, the OIC and the SCO, it is a collective responsibility.”
He also claimed that the continued activity of armed groups on Afghan soil had increased security concerns for Pakistan and Central Asian countries.
Pakistan’s special representative accused the Afghan government of what he described as “denying the presence of armed groups,” saying Kabul should acknowledge the issue and take action to address it.
Islamabad has previously accused Afghanistan of ignoring the activities of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on its soil. Kabul has rejected the allegation and maintains that ensuring Pakistan’s security is an internal matter for Pakistan.
