Eighth Moscow Format Meeting on Afghanistan to Be Held in Moscow
DID Press: Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, has announced that the eighth meeting of the Moscow Format consultations on Afghanistan will be held in Moscow on October 5.

According to Zakharova, special representatives and senior officials from Afghanistan, Russia, China, Iran, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will attend the meeting.
She added that Belarus and Egypt have also been invited as guest countries. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is also expected to address the meeting.
During bilateral meetings, current issues related to cooperation between Russia and Afghanistan will be discussed. At the main meeting, participants will discuss political and economic cooperation between Afghanistan and countries in the region, as well as ways to strengthen regional cooperation in combating terrorism and drug trafficking.
Zakharova said a joint statement is also expected to be issued at the conclusion of the meeting.
