Karim Khurram: Pakistan Is Creating “Historical Enmity” With Afghanistan Through Policies Similar to Israel
DID Press: Karim Khurram, former chief of staff to Afghan President Hamid Karzai, has condemned repeated Pakistani attacks on Afghanistan, warning that continued policies of this kind could create what he described as a “historical enmity” between the two nations.

Khurram said Afghans would mourn the deaths of their fellow citizens and the inability of their country to defend itself against the attacks.Criticizing the policies of Pakistani authorities, Khurram said Pakistan was adopting an approach similar to what he described as Israel’s policies, thereby creating a “historical enmity” with the Afghan people.
He warned that continuation of such policies could have serious consequences and cause what he described as irreparable damage to Pakistan and its relations with the Afghan people.Khurram has previously criticized Pakistani military actions in Afghanistan, warning that continued attacks could damage relations between the two countries.
In October 2025, he said Pakistani policies toward Afghanistan were contrary to Pakistan’s own interests and described hostility toward Afghanistan as a harmful approach.
The latest remarks come amid renewed tensions between Kabul and Islamabad. Pakistan says its recent airstrikes in Kunar and Helmand targeted militant hideouts and claims that 22 militants were killed, while UNAMA has reported at least 10 civilian deaths and nine injuries, most of them involving children. The competing claims about casualties and targets have not been independently verified.
