DID Press: Douglas Macgregor, a former adviser to the U.S. secretary of defense, has sharply criticized Washington’s policies and Israel’s approach in the region, warning that continuing along this path could pose serious challenges to Israel’s future and the position of the United States in the Middle East.

In an interview with Glenn Diesen, Macgregor criticized Israel’s policy of creating buffer zones by seizing other countries’ territory, saying that this approach has not created lasting security but has instead created more enemies for Israel. He also claimed that if the U.S. reduces or ends its presence in the region, Israel could face a serious crisis.
Referring to Israel’s domestic situation, he stressed that some wealthy Israelis are purchasing properties in Cyprus, Athens and Belgrade, describing the trend as a sign of concern about Israel’s future.
Macgregor also spoke about the shipment of around 40,000 2,000-pound bombs from the United States to Israel and claimed that some of these weapons may be stored in Israel for direct U.S. use in the next round of regional conflicts.
Regarding Iran, he said there was no indication that Tehran was surrendering and warned that attempts to force Iran into submission could expand the scope of the war. Macgregor also described the possible use of nuclear weapons as extremely dangerous, saying such an action could draw Russia and China into the conflict.
The former U.S. official, in another part of his remarks, described Washington’s foreign policy as a factor behind rising debt and the erosion of U.S. power, emphasizing that the United States could remain an independent and prosperous country without seeking to dominate the world.
