Yemen’s Sanaa Forces Claim Cut to Saudi-Backed Forces’ Main Supply Route in Taiz

DID Press: Nidal Hamadeh, a Germany-based political analyst and director of the Center for Crisis Studies, said in a post on X that the reported disruption of the Taiz–Al-Turbah–Aden road has cut what he described as the last major ground supply route connecting Saudi-backed forces inside Taiz with southern areas, including Aden and the coast.

Hamadeh said the road had been a vital route for the movement of personnel, equipment and residents since Taiz came under a partial blockade in 2015. He argued that cutting the route would leave Saudi-backed forces more logistically isolated and potentially increase pressure on their positions.

He also said advances toward Al-Azaaz and the Al-Hujariyah area had begun. According to his assessment, control of the surrounding strategic heights would provide oversight of the Taiz–Aden road and routes toward Lahj and Aden, potentially affecting remaining supply lines and access to southern Taiz.

Hamadeh further argued that the reported advances could strengthen the connection between Sanaa-aligned areas in northern Yemen and western coastal areas near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, while reducing the ability of Saudi-backed forces to use Taiz as a base for operations or logistical support.
