Shia Scholars in Herat Condemn Pakistani Airstrikes on Kunar and Helmand
DID Press: A group of Shia religious scholars and community elders in Jebrail township of Herat province has condemned recent Pakistani airstrikes on parts of Afghanistan’s Kunar and Helmand provinces, calling for an immediate halt to the attacks and an investigation by human rights organizations.

Participants at the gathering described the Pakistani strikes as contrary to the principles of good-neighborly relations, Islamic principles and international law. They also called for accountability over civilian casualties.
The scholars further stressed the importance of national unity and solidarity in the face of external threats. Referring to Afghanistan’s history of resistance against foreign powers, they urged citizens to set aside internal differences and unite in defense of the country.
The recent strikes in Kunar and Helmand have resulted in civilian deaths and injuries. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) confirmed that at least 10 civilians, most of them children, were killed and nine others injured in the airstrikes.
