Pakistan Reportedly Used US-Made Drones in Strikes on Kunar, Helmand

DID Press: Pakistani journalist Adil Raja, citing intelligence sources in Pakistan, has claimed that Pakistani drone strikes last week on areas of Afghanistan’s Kunar and Helmand provinces were carried out using U.S.-made drones.

According to Raja, the operation was conducted under the control of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), while Pakistan had allowed its airspace to be used for drone operations against Afghanistan.

He also claimed that more than 20 civilians were killed or wounded in the strikes, with women and children accounting for most of the casualties.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), however, has independently confirmed that at least 10 civilians, most of them children, were killed and nine others injured in airstrikes in Kunar and Helmand on October 1. UNAMA called for de-escalation, dialogue, respect for international law and measures to prevent further civilian harm.
