Afghanistan’s 1406 Kankor Registration Opens Again Without Female Students
DID Press: Taliban’s National Examination Authority has announced the opening of registration for the 1406 general Kankor and religious-school entrance examinations, with Afghan girls still excluded from taking the university entrance exam.

Mumtaz Qadiri, a spokesperson for the National Examination Authority, said registration for applicants will remain open until Qaws 30 of the current year, allowing eligible candidates to register during the designated period.
Under the current process, registration for the Kankor examination is open to eligible applicants, but girls remain unable to take the exam or pursue higher education through this pathway because of restrictions imposed by the Taliban.
The continued exclusion of girls comes amid an ongoing ban on girls’ education beyond the primary level. UNESCO reported in August 2026 that girls and women in Afghanistan continue to be barred from secondary and higher education, with an estimated 2.4 million girls excluded from secondary education by 2026.
