DID Press: Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, Bahrain’s leading Shiite cleric, has warned of the consequences of division in the Muslim world, calling on Arab and Islamic countries to set aside their differences and form a united front to defend their identity, independence and dignity.
In a message addressed to the Arab and Islamic nations, Sheikh Isa Qassim criticised countries that have become instruments of the United States and Israel. He condemned what he described as cooperation by some governments with the two countries to undermine the identity and independence of the peoples of the region.
Criticising the fragmentation of Islamic countries, he stressed that weakening unity has created conditions for greater enemy influence and increased the vulnerability of the Muslim world.
Sheikh Isa Qassim urged Arab and Islamic countries to move swiftly towards establishing a united front and confront existing threats by overcoming their differences and divisions.
He concluded by describing Islamic unity as the path to protecting nations, ending dependency, and achieving dignity, victory and success.
