Pakistan Seeks Export Routes Through Iran After Afghanistan Border Closure

DID Press: Pakistan is taking steps to transport its export goods to Central Asian markets, particularly through overland routes via Iran, following the closure of its border with Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s The Nation newspaper reported, citing official documents, that Islamabad has introduced facilities for exporting kinnow citrus fruit and potatoes through Iran during the current season.

According to the report, Uzbekistan has also requested imports from Pakistan of 300,000 tonnes of fresh potatoes, 20,000 tonnes of seed potatoes and 38,000 tonnes of meat.

Islamabad is reportedly seeking to expand its export markets across Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas for its fruits and vegetables.
