Lula da Silva: From the Lesson of Abyssinia to Support for Palestine

DID Press: The Almighty (Allah) does not abandon those who stand up for the oppressed. Standing alongside the downtrodden, regardless of religion or ethnicity, can secure a lasting place in the history of those who strive for justice.

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s victory and his positions in support of the rights of the Palestinian people can be seen as a source of hope for the oppressed people of Gaza and Palestine. His stance serves as a reminder that justice knows no boundaries of religion, ethnicity or geography.

Islamic history also offers a clear lesson in this regard. When the first Muslims in Mecca faced persecution and oppression, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent them to Abyssinia, where the ruler, Negus, was a Christian. Negus granted the Muslims refuge and protected them from injustice through his fair and just conduct.

This historic event teaches us that justice and nobility can come from someone who does not share our religion but stands with us in defending truth and human dignity.

The great lesson of Abyssinia for leaders of the Muslim world is that sometimes a person whose faith differs from ours may, in practice, stand closer to justice and the defence of the oppressed. Therefore, conduct and fairness should be the measure of judgment, rather than claims or identity alone.

Today, too, the people of Palestine and Gaza need sincere support, practical action and global solidarity. Defending them should not be confined to political slogans. It must be reflected in efforts to end civilian suffering, deliver humanitarian assistance, safeguard the rights of the Palestinian people and establish a just peace.

For this reason, we pray that the Almighty grants Mr Lula da Silva an open heart, wisdom and steadfastness in the pursuit of justice. May he remain committed to defending the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people and help bring the lesson of Abyssinia into our own time—a time when humanity rises above religious and national boundaries to assist those suffering injustice.

O Lord, guide him to recognize the truth and serve humanity. Support him on the path of justice and peace, and awaken all world leaders, particularly the leaders of Muslim-majority countries, to their responsibility toward the suffering of the Palestinian people. Powers rise and fall, but the names of those who offered refuge to the oppressed in times of suffering remain in the memory of history.

O Allah, grant victory to the oppressed and establish justice and peace on Earth.
