Kabul Signs AFN 1 Billion Water Supply Deal for District 17
DID Press: A contract worth AFN 1 billion has been signed between the state-owned Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation and Paktia Moj Contracting Company to implement a water supply project bringing water from the Shah wa Arous Dam to District 17 of Kabul.

Mohammad Nabi Bahar, spokesperson for the General Directorate of State-Owned Enterprises, said the project aims to provide drinking water to residents of Kabul’s District 17 and is expected to benefit approximately 50,000 people.
Under the project, 100 litres of surface water per second will be supplied from Shah wa Arous Dam, while another 100 litres per second will be drawn from five deep wells. This will bring the project’s total water supply capacity to 200 litres per second.
The total cost of the project has been set at AFN 1 billion, and construction is scheduled to be completed within three years. Once completed, the system will be handed over for operation and use.
The project is expected to improve access to drinking water for residents of Kabul’s District 17.
