Al-Houthi Calls for End to Yemen Blockade as a Condition for Lasting Peace

DID Press: Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, has described Saudi Arabia’s statements about reducing regional tensions as contradictory, saying they are incompatible with the continuation of attacks on and the blockade of Yemen. He called for an end to the aggression, the withdrawal of foreign forces and compensation for the damage inflicted on the country.

Criticizing the record of the military coalition referred to as the “Mecca Pact,” al-Houthi said Saudi Arabia could not speak of regional peace and security while continuing what he described as aggressive actions against Yemen. He warned Egypt, Türkiye and Pakistan against joining Saudi Arabia in military operations and the blockade of Yemen.

Al-Houthi stressed that Yemen poses no threat to the Bab al-Mandab Strait, describing claims about regional threats posed by Ansar Allah as a means of prolonging the conflict against the movement.

Referring to Israeli actions in Gaza, which he described as crimes and aggression, the Yemeni official urged members of the “Defence of Mecca” coalition to redirect regional efforts toward supporting Palestine and confronting what he called US and Israeli domination.
