Several Voter Registration centers are closed in northern Sar-e Pul province due to Taliban’s threats and people cannot register themselves for the upcoming election, provincial officials confirmed.
Insecurity in Sar-e Pul province has closed more than 60 voter registration centers in the province.

“60 to 63 voter registration centers are locked up in the province,” Zabihullah Amani, a spokesperson for Sar-e Pul’s governor told DID news agency. “The reason for the closure of these centers in the province is insecurity and the local government is unable to provide the security of the province and if the government does not pay attention to this issue, many people will not be able to attend the future election.”

There are 149 voter registration centers in Sar-e Pul province but the provincial council says more than 50 percent of these centers face threats.
