Process of Addressing Afghan Migrants Problems Improved in Greece

Afghan minister for refugees and repatriation Sayed Hussain Alemi Balkhi who had visited Greece to obviate concerns regarding the conditions of Afghan migrants, met and discussed the problems with Greek officials.
“The Greek authorities considered economic problems in managing challenges of the migrants in past, but insisted that the situation has now improved and the problems of immigrants, especially Afghans will be better addressed,” said Alemi Balkhi during a press conference on Monday.
He also said that 71 percent of Afghan immigrants are currently accepted in Greece and more facilities are available, especially in transferring these migrants from the islands of the country.
Afghanistan and Greece have also agreed to set up a committee to jointly manage migrants’ affairs.
The Minister for refugees and repatriation made a trip to Turkey to attend the 6th Budapest Conference before traveling to Greece.
The Budapest conference agreed on combating irregular immigration, facilitating the return and re-integration of immigrants, combating human trafficking gangs, regulating legal immigration conditions, supporting the integration of immigrants and combating racism, discrimination and anti-foreign affairs, strengthening the positive effects of immigrants on the development of the countries of origin and destination as well as the fight and the prohibition of human trafficking.
