President Ghani to Attend Japan’s Enthronement Ceremony

The presidential palace said in a statement that president Ghani left Kabul for Tokyo on Sunday night.
“President Ashraf Ghani leaves for Japan to attend the crowning ceremony of the Japanese emperor,” said the statement, adding that “during the tour, the president will hold wide-ranging talks with Japanese government officials and JICA chairman Shinichi Kitaoka.”

Emperor Naruhito will take part in ceremonies on Tuesday to mark his accession to the throne.
During Tuesday’s ceremony, the Japanese emperor will be dressed in traditional court wear and will step onto the Takamikura throne in the main hall of the imperial palace.
On Tuesday evening, the first banquet will be held at the Imperial Palace with heads of states.
