NSA Hamdullah Mohib Rejects The Times’s Assertion
Afghanistan National Security Adviser (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib says the headline and introductory paragraph of the Times’s article is an assertion and not true.
The London-based Times newspaper recently in an article quoted NSA Hamdullah Mohib as saying that Afghanistan has asked that American and allied troops stay in the country for two more years before a NATO summit tomorrow to decide whether to meet a May 1 deadline agreed with the Taliban for the withdrawal of US.
Hamdullah Mohib, meanwhile, tweeted that “The article’s headline and introductory paragraph is an assertion, not something I said. My quotes on our position are clear in the article.”
President Ghani and the national security adviser have repeatedly said that Afghanistan does not need foreign troops to defend itself.
