Increase in flights; Afghanistan on track to become regional aviation hub

The increase in the number of domestic and international flights in Afghanistan has been presented as an emerging economic potential for the caretaker government and the country.

DID Press: With the significant growth in air traffic, Afghanistan has gained a more important place in the regional air transport map and is gradually becoming one of the air connection points in the region.

The Ministry of Transport and Aviation of the Taliban caretaker government announced that more than 14,000 flights were operated from the country’s airports last year, indicating the revival of this sector in the current situation.

According to reports, Kabul International Airport accounted for a large share of this figure with 7,665 flights.

Of these, 3,400 were domestic flights and 4,265 were international flights, which are carried out specifically to important countries such as Russia, Turkey, India, Qatar, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, China and Saudi Arabia.

“Increasing flights will not only help improve the economic situation, but also provide opportunities for cultural and commercial exchange with other countries,” said Fathullah Mansour, Deputy Minister of Transport and Aviation
