EU allocates €14 million to improve health services in Khost

DID Press: Veronika Boskovic Pohar, EU Chargée d’Affaires in Afghanistan, met with Mawlawi Abdul Qayyum Rouhani, the governor of Khost province, during her recent visit to the province. The visit aimed to review humanitarian projects, strengthening cooperation with local authorities and assess the state of development services.

Pohar announced during the meeting that the EU has allocated €14 million to improve health services in Khost. According to her, €7 million of this amount will be spent on supporting the laboratory section of the provincial Public Health Department, and another €7 million will be allocated to this sector soon.

EU-funded health programs are being implemented in 28 provinces of Afghanistan and provide basic health services to vulnerable groups, especially victims of war and displacement, she added.

Pohar also stressed the EU’s commitment to supporting migrants and displaced families, including providing basic services such as shelter, healthcare and education. Addressing the situation of displaced people is not only a domestic challenge, but also a matter of regional stability and development.
