$10 Billion Contract Signed to Produce 10,000 Megawatts Electricity in Kabul

DID Press: Afghanistan’s Ministry of Water and Energy announced the signing of a major contract worth $10 billion with “Azizi Energy Invest,” a private company.”

Matiullah Abid, spokesperson for the Ministry of Water and Energy, said the ministry has recently signed a $10 billion contract with “Azizi Energy Invest.”

The goal of the contract is to produce 10,000 megawatts of electricity in Kabul. According to Abid, the project could significantly help in utilizing Afghanistan’s domestic energy resources.

Afghanistan has a potential capacity of approximately 320,000 megawatts of electricity from its domestic resources, but so far, only a small portion of this capacity has been utilized.

Electricity is considered one of the key factors for industrial development in any country, and Taliban officials have said that they are striving to turn Afghanistan into an energy-exporting country in the region.
