Transfer of Authority for Expelling Afghanistani Migrants to Border Provinces; Khorasan Razavi Takes Direct Responsibility
DID Press: In a new decision, the authority to make decisions regarding the expulsion of Afghanistani migrants has been transferred to Iran’s eastern provinces, including Khorasan Razavi. This move, according to local officials, has “removed the burden of managing migration” from the central government.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported that decisions about the expulsion of Afghanistani migrants to eastern Iranian provinces have now been delegated.
According to the report, Gholam hussain Mozaffari, the governor of Khorasan Razavi, emphasized during a meeting on immigration organization that this decision has reduced the “heavy burden” of migration management from the central government.
Mozaffari announced that the issue of Afghanistani migrants is a priority for Khorasan Razavi province, and a specialized committee has been formed to manage it. He stressed the importance of studying the immigration laws of other countries and stated, “In many countries, residency is granted through investment.”
The governor of Khorasan Razavi also highlighted the importance of managing joint economic capacities with Afghanistan and announced that this province is directly responsible for interactions with Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that, in total, approximately 67% of foreign nationals leave through the Dogharoun border, 32% through the Milak border, and 1% through the Mahirud border.
