Former US Diplomat Claims Taliban, Washington Engaged in Covert Cooperation against ISIS-K
DID Press: A former U.S. national security advisor claimed Afghanistan’s caretaker government has collaborated with Washington in combating certain terrorist groups.

Sebastian Gorka, former US Deputy National Security Advisor and a senior counterterrorism expert, recently revealed that Taliban have, on several occasions, acted as operational partners of the US in fighting specific threats.
“There are groups that threaten not only U.S. interests but also the interim government itself. For this reason, the Taliban have at times aligned their actions with our security objectives,” said Gorka, discussing shifts in regional security dynamics.
He underlined while the cooperation is neither formal nor public, it has occurred at operational and intelligence levels in certain cases—particularly in combating ISIS-Khorasan, a group that both sides view as a common threat.
