Trump: Biden Squandered 20 Years of American Blood and Treasure
DID Press: On the fourth anniversary of the deadly suicide attack at Kabul airport, U.S. President Donald Trump strongly criticized the previous administration led by Joe Biden, describing the incident as “one of the darkest days in American history.”

The suicide bombing, which took place on August 26, 2021, at the “Abbey Gate” entrance of Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport, killed 13 U.S. service members and more than 160 Afghanistan civilians. Another 40 U.S. troops were wounded, marking the deadliest day for American forces in a decade.
In a sharply worded statement, Trump declared: “On one of the darkest days in the history of our nation, the gates of hell opened when an ISIS-K terrorist detonated a bomb, killing 13 of our American sevice members.”
He strongly criticized Biden administration’s decision to abandon Bagram Air Base, saying: “as a Direct result of this reckless action — a purely political show — our men and women were left without a defensible base, allowing the Taliban to release thousands of bloodthirsty terrorists.”
US president also recalled the moment when the flag-draped coffins of fallen U.S. troops returned home, adding: “In one of the most shameful moments in our nation’s collective memory, Joe Biden checked his watch — and time stood still — as our heroes came home in flag-draped coffins.”
Trump described the withdrawal as “the most disgraceful display of U.S. foreign policy” and vowed that such a situation would never occur under his leadership.
“As commander-in-chief, I will never allow our troops to be betrayed in this way, our allies to be abandoned, or our credibility to be so destroyed,” he stressed.
Trump also noted the capture of the main perpetrator of the Kabul attack: “On the night of March 4, 2025, during my address to Congress, I announced we had captured the ISIS terrorist responsible for that crime. He is now in the United States to face the sword of American justice.”
Concluding his remarks, Trump emphasized that only American strength can prevent such tragedies: “When America is strong, the world is safe, and there are fewer conflicts on the battlefield.”
However, multiple reports from investigative bodies and the U.S. Congress have pointed out that flawed policies and repeated mistakes by both Republican and Democratic administrations contributed to Afghanistan’s two decades of turmoil.
