Iran, OIC Discuss Strengthening Cooperation on Afghanistan Affairs

DID Press: Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Director General for South Asian Affairs at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held talks with Tariq Ali Bakhit, Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Afghanistan, to exchange views on the current situation in the country.

In an official statement, the OIC announced that on Monday, Tariq Ali Bakhit hosted Bahrami, who also serves as Deputy Foreign Minister, for a meeting focused on developments in Afghanistan.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the situation in Afghanistan within the framework of relevant resolutions adopted by the OIC Summit and the Council of Foreign Ministers.

According to the statement, Bahrami and Bakhit stressed the importance of enhancing engagement with the current authorities in Afghanistan. They regarded this step as essential for addressing the multiple challenges facing the country and its people.
