Pakistan’s Defense Minister: Taliban Celebrate With the Blood of Our Sons

DID Press: Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has launched a sharp criticism of Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities following a recent suicide attack on a security forces base near the Afghan border, calling the Taliban “terrorists.”

“The terrorist Taliban are celebrating with the blood of our sons. In the history of the world, there has never been such ingratitude in response to such generosity,” Asif wrote on his official account on X.

He said that some of the attackers in the assault on the Bannu military base had come from Afghan soil, stressing that three of the five suicide bombers were identified as Afghan nationals.

Referring to Pakistan’s past support for Afghanistan, Asif said: “We fought for those who now stand against us,” adding that Pakistan had sacrificed its own security and economy during two protracted wars in Afghanistan, losing hundreds of lives.

He also noted that Pakistan currently hosts more than six million Afghan refugees, some of whom have become major businessmen and contractors. Asif described this as evidence of “ingratitude” and a “negative response to Pakistan’s extensive assistance.”
