Deadly Afghanistan Quake Was ‘Divine Warning’ against Taliban, Says ISKP
DID Press: Islamic State’s Khorasan branch (ISKP) issued a provocative statement linking the recent deadly earthquake in eastern Afghanistan to the Taliban’s campaign against its fighters, describing the disaster as a “divine warning” against the de facto rulers.

In a 13-minute audio message titled “Condolences to the People of Kunar”, released through IS-linked media channels, the group claimed the earthquake that struck Kunar, Nangarhar, Nuristan and Laghman provinces—killing and injuring more than 6,000 people—was a manifestation of “God’s anger” over Taliban actions.
ISKP spokesperson accused the Taliban of abandoning “true Sharia” and failing to implement “divine laws,” arguing that natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods are not random events but “warnings from God to awaken Muslims.”
The message also referenced recent floods in Pakistan, linking them to Islamabad’s capture and transfer of an ISKP commander to the United States. The group denounced Pakistan as an “apostate regime” and vowed retaliation.
Taliban, who have intensified operations against ISKP cells across Afghanistan, have not commented on the latest claims.
