Afghanistan Bans Use of Laser Lights in Vehicles

DID Press: Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior of the Taliban caretaker government has officially banned the use of laser lights in all vehicles across Afghanistan, citing a sharp rise in their installation and a surge in traffic-related problems.

In an official statement, the Traffic Department emphasized that no individual will be permitted to install or operate laser lights on their vehicles, and legal action will be taken against violators.

Authorities noted that laser lights, particularly at night, can impair the vision of other drivers and are a major cause of road accidents. These high-intensity lights pose a serious risk to the safety of drivers and passengers.

The department said that the use of laser lights, especially on private cars and motorcycles, had become widespread and unprecedented in recent months, prompting concerns from citizens and traffic experts alike.

Traffic patrols have been instructed to identify vehicles using laser lights and take immediate enforcement action against offenders.

This measure reflects the Taliban’s ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce preventable traffic accidents in the country.
