UNSC to Hold New Meeting on Afghanistan

DID Press: UN Security Council will convene on Wednesday, 17 September, to discuss the latest developments in Afghanistan.

The session is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Kabul time, with senior UN officials, including the head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), set to address the meeting.

In a statement, UNAMA announced that its chief, Roza Otunbayeva, will present an updated report on Afghanistan’s political, security, and humanitarian situation.

According to official sources, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk and a representative of Afghanistan civil society will also attend the meeting to share their perspectives on the country’s ongoing conditions.
