Mullah Yaqub Mujahid: Seeking Sanctions Relief, Not Military Alliances
DID Press: Taliban government’s defense minister has ruled out any military cooperation with the United States, Russia, or China, emphasizing that caretaker government is focused on strengthening Afghanistan’s army and domestic stability.

In a recent remarks, Mullah Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid stressed that Afghanistan has no military agreements with neighboring countries or global powers. The Taliban’s current priorities are political and economic issues, particularly lifting of international sanctions against the country.
Speaking to local media, Mujahid said security and internal challenges in Afghanistan are declining, noting that ISIS no longer controls even a single inch of Afghanistan territory.
He also reaffirmed Taliban’s commitment to Doha Agreement with the United States, saying Afghanistan’s soil would not be used against any other country.
Mujahid further highlighted caretaker government’s plans to rebuild and professionalize Afghanistan army, noting that hundreds of soldiers graduate monthly from military and training centers.
Concluding his remarks, he reiterated that the Taliban government currently maintains no military relations with the U.S., NATO, China, or Russia.
