New Law: Property Prices and Rent to Require Local Board Approval
DID Press: Officials of the Taliban caretaker government have issued a new law in the property sector, making the buying, selling, and renting of real estate contingent upon evaluation and approval by local boards.

Under the law, setting land prices and rental rates will no longer be solely at the discretion of property owners. All transactions must follow official administrative procedures and formal proposals.
Authorities have said that the purpose of the law is to prevent excessive price increases and to introduce fairness into the real estate market. Previously, the absence of regulatory oversight—particularly in major cities—allowed property owners to set prices and rents arbitrarily, creating significant challenges for tenants.
