Austria: Talks with Taliban Not Mean Legitimacy
DID Press: Austrian Chancellor Christian Stöcker said any negotiations with Taliban do not equate to recognition of the group.

Stöcker said that recent discussions between Austrian officials and Taliban representatives in Vienna were purely technical, aimed at facilitating the return of migrants with criminal records to Afghanistan.
“Our willingness to repatriate criminals in no way signifies approval or legitimacy of the Taliban government,” he stressed.
The Austrian government has repeatedly highlighted the importance of returning migrants with criminal backgrounds, noting that maintaining internal security remains a top priority in the country’s migration policy.
